Better than iPhone?

Smartphone specialist Palm is aiming for the best of both worlds with the Pre - a touchscreen mobile to rival the iphone that uses a web-based operating system similar to Google's Android. Like apple's device, the Pre's display can detect multi-touch gestures like 'pinching', but it also has a few features that iPhone doesn't, including a slide-out keyboard. On board is Palm's new webOS software, a mobile operating system that can access and sync documents and contacts saved on your computer or in online accounts such as Facebook.

Wire-free power

The Pre is the first phone you can recharge without wires. It uses inductive charging technology so you just rest it on the base unit and battery will pick up power.
